Australian Pure Lemon Myrtle Soap is produced in Australia with pure essential oil from the Lemon Myrtle plant which is uniquely found within the east coast subtropical rainforest region of Australia.

Lemon Myrtle is an Australian native plant which has been long used by Australian Aborigines both for bush cooking as well as a healing plant.

Lemon Myrtle is used today in culinary applications as a natural flavour enhancer, whilst the plant’s leaf is exported globally for use as a soothing tea blend.

The Lemon Myrtle plant is known to have the world’s highest concentration of naturally occurring citral (a substance which provides the lemon/citrus scent). The citral in Lemon Myrtle is generally in the vicinity of 90%-98%, whilst it is 65%-85% in Lemon Grass and 2%-5% in Lemon.

The citral contained in the essential oil of the Lemon Myrtle plant is renown for its antimicrobial properties and accordingly Lemon Myrtle oil is often used as a natural antibacterial and antifungal agent.

The hinterland of northern New South Wales is renown for its lush rolling pastures and pockets of rainforests. It was once covered by the largest expanse of subtropical rainforest in the world, which grew out of the ashes of the 20 million year old ancient volcano Mt. Warning.

Mt. Warning erupted approximately 23 million years ago and when it finished its eruption three million years later, the volcano’s height was over 2,000 metres (6,560ft). Over time natural erosion has exposed the underlying pre-volcanic sediments and metamorphic rocks leaving rich soil deposits in the fertile valleys which are ideal for the growth of native Lemon Myrtle plants.

Lemon Myrtle essential oil sourced by Steep Rock originates from sustainable plantations in this subtropical region of eastern Australia. The plantations are operated under strict environmental conditions and adopt natural fertilizers and mulches to support the health of the trees.
